The negotiated damage restoration for lost wages from the 2008 CBA is 8 million dollars that will be paid to IAFF Local 244 in a lump sum. After several meetings with Local and IAFF Counsel, we have determined the rank specific disbursement amounts that will compensate non-probationary IAFF members and retirees active during June 19, 2010 through July 1, 2011. The rank specific calculations are based on contractual hourly rates that were unilaterally cut/reduced by the Berry Administration. We applied a multiplier that will more than compensate for slight variances that may include paid leave, overtime, holidays and shift assignments. Disbursement categories will be as follows: Firefighter, Driver, Paramedic Driver, Lieutenant, Paramedic Lieutenant, Captain, Paramedic Captain, CMDR, and Paramedic CMDR. Members who were promoted or retired during the time period will have their disbursements adjusted accordingly. We will follow all Federal and State Law regarding applicable tax withholdings from members’ settlement checks.
Informational Special Meetings are scheduled for February 8, 2018 at 5:30pm and February 9, 2018 at 10:00am.
The Ballot Vote to approve the settlement will be on February 12, 2018 from 7:00am to 7:00pm. Poll sites will be the Union Hall, Station 17 and Station 8. Only current IAFF Local 244 members in good standing that were in a non-probationary status from June 19, 2010 through July 1, 2011 will be allowed to vote.
